Designed to support the Child Care Apprenticeship Program, VCCICC offers a sequence of six college courses at Community College of Vermont sites around the state. Through grant-funding, these courses are offered at no cost to registered apprentices. Apprentices attend one course per semester. Most courses meet in person once per week from 6-9pm; occasionally courses are offered as “hybrids” that meet both in person (2-4 times per semester) and the rest is online. Apprentices earn a total of 18 college credits while in the program. This can be a great launching point for an associate’s degree!
Courses are also open to community members on a first-come-first-served basis as space allows. To apply, you must be currently working with children in VT (or be a VT resident working with children in a neighboring state) and must be accepted as a CCV student. This is a unique and affordable opportunity to take a 3-credit course with other students who are working in the field. Over 1,500 students across the state have completed one or more college courses through VCCICC. Courses run year round, in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
